coastal flood watch

The National Weather Service has posted a Coastal Flood Advisory and a Coastal Flood Watch in advance of a storm that is expected to affect the Mid-Atlantic coast early this week. The Advisory is in effect from Monday, February 8th at 5:00am until Tuesday, February 9th, at 4:00am. The Watch is in effect from late Monday night through Tuesday afternoon.

A storm will be passing by the New Jersey coastline early this week and could bring some rain and snow to our region. The storm is also expected to bring the potential for widespread minor coastal flooding at time of high tide on Monday and the potential for moderate coastal flooding on Tuesday morning.

High tide at the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge between Avalon and Sea Isle City will occur on Monday at 7:31am, and again at 7:54pm. High tide on Tuesday will occur at 8:16am and again at 8:40pm. Never attempt to drive on any street that is flooded; you put yourself in danger, and may create a wake that could damage homes and businesses. If you experience a power outage, please be sure to contact Atlantic City Electric and report your outage at 1-800-833-7476. There will be winds out of the northeast during this storm, with rain mixing with snow at times.

Please continue to follow traditional media outlets for updated weather information early this week.
