The National Weather Service has continued the High Wind Warning and the Coastal Flood Warning for the Borough. Strong winds and the potential for minor to moderate coastal flooding exists as the nor’easter storm pulls north into the New England region Friday night into Saturday.
The Borough can expect strong, gusty winds throughout Friday evening and the overnight hours. Wind gusts are expected to reach 55 mph over the next 12 hours which can bring down trees, tree limbs, and utility wires. Please be aware that the wind may cause sudden hazardous conditions. There has been some snow and sleet associated with this storm during the afternoon hours on Friday. If you have an electrical outage, call Atlantic City Electric directly at 1-800-833-7476.
There remains a threat for minor to potentially moderate coastal flooding at time of high tide over the next 36 hours. The high tide Friday morning did not produce street flooding, but flooding is possible at time of high tide Friday evening, Saturday morning, and Saturday evening.
High tide at the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge Friday evening at 8:33pm, and again on Saturday at 8:51am and 9:19pm. Never attempt to drive on any flooded street during this storm event. Be aware that the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge between Avalon and Sea Isle City has been closed by the County of Cape May and is expected to remain closed until sometime on Sunday; take an alternate route.
