The National Weather Service continues both the Winter Storm Warning and the Wind Chill Advisory for the Stone Harbor and surrounding areas through Wednesday morning. However, the anticipated snowfall totals have been slightly downgraded by about two inches. Previously the forecast called for the possibility of between six to ten inches of snow from this storm; the latest forecast has been revised to reflect the possibility of four to eight inches of snow for our region.
The winter storm continues to be a threat to our area as snow will be widespread over our region by Tuesday afternoon. The snowfall is expected to be light at first, and intensify during the evening hours before ending early Wednesday morning. Travel is expected to remain difficult during the evening hours with strong winds that will result in blowing snow across roadways and sidewalks. The revised forecast has between one to three inches of snow falling during the afternoon hours, and by the storm ends, a total of between four to eight inches of snow.
In addition to the Winter Storm Warning, a Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect. Winds will gust from the north up to 50mph during the overnight hours and winds will be gusting to 45mph Wednesday morning. Wednesday’s forecast high temperature is 19 degrees, which will result in wind chill values during Wednesday morning at –8.
Please exercise great caution while driving late this afternoon and this evening. Driving will be difficult during the evening hours when the heaviest snowfall is expected to occur. If you have any emergency during the storm, please dial 911.
