Coastal Flood Warning For Stone Harbor Tuesday, December 9th

The National Weather Service has posted a Coastal Flood Warning for our community for Tuesday morning, December 9th. Minor to moderate coastal flooding is expected during high tide on Tuesday morning. A coastal storm will make its way along the New Jersey coastline on Tuesday and will bring some rain, windy conditions, and coastal flooding to our community. The heaviest rain is expected to occur on Tuesday morning with strong 40mph wind gusts. Please take this opportunity to secure any objects that are subject to strong gusty winds. High tide will occur at the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge between Avalon and Sea Isle City at 9:31am on Tuesday and again at 10:03pm.

If you live on a street that typically experiences high water during flooding events, consider moving your vehicle out of the street to higher ground. Please continue to monitor this weather forecast and the risk of coastal flooding through traditional media outlets.

Tuesday…

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a coastal
Flood Warning… which is in effect from 7 am to 1 PM EST Tuesday.
The coastal Flood Watch is no longer in effect.

* Location… coastal areas of New Jersey and Delaware.

* Coastal flooding… minor flooding is anticipated around high
tide this evening. Moderate coastal flooding is expected during
the Tuesday morning high tide. Heavy rain and rough surf at the
time of high tide will enhance to flooding problem.

* At Atlantic City… New Jersey… high tide this evening will
occur at 846 PM with a forecast tide level near 6.2 feet above
mean lower low water. The high tide Tuesday morning will occur
at 857 am with a forecast tide level of near 7.2 feet above mean
lower low water.

* At Cape May… New Jersey (oceanfront)… high tide this evening
will occur at 920 PM with a forecast tide level near 6.8 feet
above mean lower low water. The high tide Tuesday morning will
occur at 931 am with a forecast tide level of 7.5 to 8.0 feet
above mean lower low water.

* High tide on the back bays… along the Delaware and Raritan
bays occurs later than the high tide on the oceanfront.

* Impacts… expect roadways prone to minor tidal flooding to
flood this evening. Expect Road closures during the times of
high tide Tuesday morning when higher water levels are
expected. In addition wind driven heavy rains and wave action
will exacerbate the potential for beach erosion Tuesday.

A coastal Flood Warning indicates that moderate or major tidal
flooding is imminent or occurring. Be prepared for rising water
levels and take appropriate action to protect life and property.
Follow the recommendations of local emergency management
officials.

Mon, Dec. 8th: Flood Watch, Flood Advisory Posted for Stone Harbor

The National Weather Service has posted a Coastal Flood Advisory for Stone Harbor for Monday until Noon, and a Coastal Flood Watch for Stone Harbor from Tuesday morning through Tuesday afternoon. A coastal storm is approaching our area and is expected to bring strong winds, rain, and occasional coastal flooding at time of high tide.

Never attempt to drive on any flooded street as this puts yourself and your vehicle at danger. Please secure any outdoor objects that may be subject to strong winds Monday night and Tuesday. Continue to follow traditional media outlets for updates to this storm. Intermittent power outages are also possible during this storm event, which may last into Wednesday morning.

Coastal Flood Watch Posted for Stone Harbor Monday, December 8th

The National Weather Service has posted a Coastal Flood Watch for Stone Harbor and the Jersey Shore for Monday morning. The flood watch means that minor to perhaps moderate coastal flooding may be possible at time of high tide on Monday.

There is growing confidence in the meteorological community that a coastal storm will impact our region beginning Monday evening through Wednesday morning. There is a chance that moderate coastal flooding may occur at time of high tide throughout this storm event. Please pay close attention to the forecast over the next couple of days. Strong northeasterly winds combined with heavy rainfall may aggravate flooding concerns at the Jersey Shore. Streets that typically flood during these events may experience high water. Never attempt to drive on a street that is flooded as it puts you, your vehicle, and rescuers in danger. Monday’s weather will see an increase in clouds with showers at night; Tuesday, heavy rain and strong winds are expected to impact the Jersey shoreline.

The National Weather Service has posted a Coastal Flood Advisory for Sunday morning, and has now extended a Coastal Flood Watch until Monday morning in advance of the potential for a coastal storm at the Jersey Shore that may impact our forecast from Monday through Wednesday morning.Flooding

There is the potential for minor coastal flooding in flood prone areas of our community this morning. Please do not attempt to drive on any streets that are flooded, and do not drive through any flooded intersections. Here are the following high tide events where minor flooding may occur today, and minor to moderate flooding may occur Monday and Tuesday. High tide at the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge between Avalon and Sea Isle City are as follows:

Sunday: 8:10am, 8:36pm Monday: 8:50am, 9:20pm Tuesday: 9:31am, 10:03pm

Sunday’s forecast will be dry and clear but very windy with wind gusts approaching 45mph. Please secure any outdoor objects that are subject to wind conditions including umbrellas, trash cans, and the like.

There is the potential for spotty minor flooding at time of high tide on Sunday morning. High tide will occur at the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge between Avalon and Sea Isle City Sunday at 8:10am, and again at 8:36pm. Areas of our community that typically see high water during coastal flooding events may see minor flooding Sunday morning. Never attempt to drive through any flooded intersection or on any flooded street.

A coastal storm may develop that will bring more widespread flooding to the Jersey Shore Monday through Wednesday morning. Please pay attention to this website and traditional media outlets for the latest information.
